In
2011, Jamtara had population of 790,207 of which male and female
were 403,450 and 386,757 respectively. There was change of 21.00
percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In
the previous census of India 2001, Jamtara District recorded
increase of 19.85 percent to its population compared to 1991.
Average literacy rate of Jamtara in 2011 were 63.73
compared to 47.94 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender
wise, male and female literacy were 76.85 and 50.08
respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 62.86 and
32.35 in Jamtara District. Total literate in Jamtara District
were 421,731 of which male and female were 259,369 and 162,383
respectively. In 2001, Jamtara District had 255,921 in its total
